On January 6, 2025, the University of Science and Education – University of Danang (UD-UED) successfully held the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Saga University (Japan). This significant event affirmed the strategic vision and commitment to sustainable cooperation between the two universities in education, scientific research, and the training of high-quality human resources in the field of agriculture.
The ceremony was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Rector of UD-UED. Participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ly, Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Dang Mau, Dean of the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Science; and lecturers, postgraduate students, and undergraduates from the faculty. The presence of these representatives not only emphasised the spirit of collaboration but also underscored the strong connection between the two universities.
Representing Saga University, the delegation was led by Prof. Akihiro Suzuki, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. He was accompanied by Prof. Shoki Tei, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Prof. Munehiro Tanaka, Vice Chairman of the Educational Committee, Chairman of Academic Affairs Committee, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Deputy Research Director of the Graduate School of Agriculture. Professors from Saga University are scholars in the fields of Biology, Agriculture and Environmental Science. The participation of distinguished representatives from both sides highlighted the profound international cooperation and solidarity.
The two universities discussed future cooperation plans, including the promotion of student and faculty exchange programs and the implementation of joint research projects. Both sides committed to contributing to sustainable development in education and science, meeting the increasing demands of modern society.
Following the signing ceremony, an academic exchange program was organized under the coordination of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Minh Ly and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Dang Mau. During the program, scientists from both universities shared prominent research findings. Saga University, with its strength in Biology, and Agriculture have presented highly applicable studies such as: “Application of microbial inoculation technology to the production of medicinal plants; The function of monocarpic senescence in soybean; Sustainable Social System based on the Circulation of Agricultural Materials”. These topics received high praise from participants, paving the way for future collaborative projects.
The ceremony concluded successfully, marking the beginning of a new phase of long-term collaboration between UD-UED and Saga University. This promising start lays the groundwork for future achievements shared by the two institutions. Undergraduate and master students of the Faculty of Environmental Biology have the opportunity to study and research at Saga University, Japan. Researchers from the two universities can exchange academic research and together co-publish scientific papers.
